GM Recalls LaCrosse and SRX For a Transmission Software Issue

Posted

General Motors recalled about 27,000 vehicles due to a software issue in the transmission of the 2013 Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac SRX. The Buick’s made from April 25, 2012 through March 6, 2013 and Cadillac’s produced May 29, 2012 through Feb. 18, 2013 are effected.

The technical issue is that the transmission sometimes involuntarily shifts into sport mode. This causes the transmission to remove the downshifting/slowing effect, which may or may not cause an accident. GM has no reports of crashes related to this issue. Non the less they are being proactive, urging drivers to come in and re-patch the software at not cost.
